I am following the herd, some people tagged or asked me to do this, so I comply. Here they are: I’d been living in 4 countries until now; Indonesia (most of the time), Germany, Canada and United States (currently) and visited more than a dozen countries. I hold a bachelor in Architecture but never worked as an architect, I prefer architecture as a way of life not as a work for living. I used to smoke a lot, not anymore right now except for an occasionally collapse of good judgement. Despite used to be a heavy smoker, I never use / Read more …

From Jakarta to New York

This entry is overdue a couple of days. I was moving to New York City and will be working with Research Foundation of City University of New York. It will be a new adventure to start a whole new year. This entry is about my long travel from Jakarta to New York. Some of you were keep asking me about this, so here it is. Enjoy. Media is Life

It’s been a while, isn’t it? It is not because real life™ is taking over but there are many exciting things happened around the online environment too. Microblogging Twitter, Plurk, Pownce, Jaiku and even Facebook’s status are becoming my main vent of online presence. Writing in those so-called microblog platform is so convenient and easy, so writing a long article in this blog seems like a very challenging task. Not to mention nowadays I rarely had time to think and analyze things thoughtfully. Instead of writing a half-thought entry, I rather wrote a simple and direct thought about… well, everything / Read more …

Dengue

According to Wikipedia: Dengue fever (IPA: /ˈdɛŋgeɪ/) and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) are acute febrile diseases, found in the tropics and Africa, with a geographical spread similar to malaria. One major difference, however, is that malaria is often eradicated in major cities, whereas dengue is often found in urban areas of developed tropical nations, including Singapore, Taiwan and Brazil. Caused by one of four closely related virus serotypes of the genus Flavivirus, family Flaviviridae, each serotype is sufficiently different that there is no cross-protection and epidemics caused by multiple serotypes (hyperendemicity) can occur. Dengue is transmitted to humans by the / Read more …

Tasks

After more than 1.5 years out of daily job circle, last Wednesday I officially started my day by sitting inside my new office, Carat Indonesia. Not inside a cubicle, fortunately, but in a comfortable room, around 2x2 m2 with a comfortable chair, a huge desk and a wireframe trash bin that look exactly like a default Mac OS X Tiger’s trash bin (Yeah, I know it’s weird to make a reference about a trash bin - but I just couldn’t help it.). Incoming

It’s the time of the year again. End of year. I’d been overwhelmed with Real Life™ lately and the end of year phase was not really helping me to slow down either. So yeah, sorry for the lack of update lately. There were many issues need to be resolved before the new year comes. 2007 Recap For me, 2007 was a decent year. Not too great but not too terrible. Happy Ied and best Ied's SMS this year

Sorry for the long absence, I just took my sabbatical time off from computer and internet, well, not entirely but I just tried to get away from technology for a while and of course still busy with life, Ramadhan and Ied. Happy Ied For those who celebrated Ied, Happy Ied, may this year Ramadhan be a blessing and hopefully we all came out as a better person than before. What's the frequency?

No, it’s not the question for Kenneth and it doesn’t have any connection whatsoever with the meaning of that amazing song. It is a catch phrase I love to say when I am talking about ‘Social Network’. What is ‘Social Network’? According to Wikipedia: A social network is a social structure made of nodes (which are generally individuals or organizations) that are tied by one or more specific types of relations, such as values, visions, idea, financial exchange, friends, kinship, dislike, conflict, trade, web links, sexual relations, disease transmission (epidemiology), or airline routes. Two

It’s been exactly two years since my last entry. It was too long, wasn’t it? Many things happened in two years. Especially in this information age. So where was I? The story so far I won’t bother to tell what happened in the last two years, some stories might shows up from time to time in my next entries, but for now, let me simplified it by saying “It wasn’t what I hope it would be”. But the last two years was not a complete disaster. Not at all. It was a very appreciated learning experience. Some experiences taught me / Read more …

Bring It On

Well, I know that I already bored you with my pathetic rants and raves but excuse me, it’s just my condition right now is not as good as it was. Heck, I don’t even think that I ever been this low. Consider that, I was thinking, how could things get worse? Well, it could tho but what the hell, I will get it thru somehow. I want my life back...

I want to get back on my feet again. I want to be able wake up in the morning thinking about the next greatest thing I want to do today. I want to breath the fresh air of life. I want to say positive words. I want to look out from my window and see the great future lies ahead. I want to fly high and beyond the reach of stars. I will be moving to Berlin tomorrow afternoon. Not because I’ve got a job there, not because I am bored with Lübeck but because I am simply broke. I am still looking for a job now (Here’s my resume in case you or somebody you know interested on hiring me.), so I don’t have regular income. If you think my lack of update since my last entry was because I was relaxing after my defense then you were wrong. Dead wrong. Here’s the situation: I am broke. Writing thesis, one chapter each week. Yeah, right. That was the idea until last week. I was about to send one chapter to my advisor when I thought it would be better if I read it once again. Talent

I have a very interesting discussion about ‘talent’ in Godote’s Forum. I used to believe in ‘talent’ but nowadays the concept of ‘talent’ seems a little bit annoying and useless. What if you have talent? Makes you better than other people? How to ‘measure’ your talent? Scalable from 1 to 10? And what happened if your talent scores lower than the other? Is that make you ‘less’ talented? See the absurdity of the concept of talent? Why don’t we just do what we like or want to do and put a real hard work on that? I think that probably / Read more …
