America, Fuck Yeah!

They are string puppet. They are fighting against terrorist in their own destructive way. They don’t give a damn about casualty. They fight, they destroy, they kill… They are Team America!

America, fuck yeah! Comin’ again to save the motherfucking day, yeah!
America, fuck yeah! Freedom is the only way, yeah!
Terrorists, your game is through, ‘cause now you have to answer to
America, fuck yeah! So lick my butt and suck on my balls!
America, fuck yeah! What you gonna do when we come for you now!
(Team America Original Soundtrack)

This satire movie from the creator of South Park is hilarious. Full of sarcastic joke around and a lame excuses about American current behaviour towards the world today (It’s the dicks, pussies and assholes philosophy… the most hilarious piece of wise that I’ve ever heard). Not to mention lots of nasty words and behaviour all over the movie.

This movie reminded me of the old Thunderbird TV series. Yeah, THAT string puppet. But be warned, this movie is NOT for kids. That’s right, folks. No matter how cute the puppet are this movie is not for kids, well, it may not even for everyone, especially those who dislike coarse languages, sex situation (yes, this movie has it… imagine that), unlimited absurdity and many unpleasant things. To make it short, if you find South Park is repulsive then this movie is not for you.

Other than that? It really an enjoyable movie, full of critics, laugh on your face and other good stuff. At least it will worth rental if not watch it on theater (but take my words, those cute puppets looks good in the big screen).

Spread Firefox!

So you are still using IE, eh? Do you know that IE is a major security issues? With all those spywares and viruses around looming the Internet, isn’t that now is the right time to dump IE and use another browser that are more secure? I am using Mac, so yeah Safari naturally is my choice but in case you are using other operating system (even if you are using Mac and want alternative cool browser, like me) I strongly recommend you using Firefox. SpreadFirefox is a website that promote Firefox, since Firefox is a free, open source browser / Read more …

The Grudge

This movie is a remake of a Japanesse movie, Ju On, with the same director. This IS a horror movie. Remind me of the Ring and this movie sure scares the hell of many people. I believe this western version is already milded down for western viewer but still it scared the hell of many of its audiences (I based this prediction according to how many people are screaming while watching this movie and how many of them are saying “that WAS damn scary” after the movie was over). The story itself is quite simple, it is about a / Read more …

Condolence

Ayu’s father passed away today afternoon (around 11am, GMT +7). He was an extraordinary person, a great father and one of a few person that I really respect and adore. He will be missed as a great man and father by everybody that knew him. My deepest condolence to Ayu and her family (her mother, Rahma and Nino). I am sorry I couldn’t do anything more than just called but my prayer is always with him. Please, take a silence moment and pray for him… / Read more …

Indonesia Web Standards situation

It’s been a while since I wrote an entry about Web Standards issue. But since reading Priyadi’s entry about his research on Situs Terbaik competition entries, I think I will write a complimentary entry. (I have to admit that Priyadi’s research is quite amazing, well done pal! - too bad it is in Indonesian language only) What is “Situs Terbaik”? For those non-Indonesian speakers, it literally means “The Best Website”. So it is basically a national competition looking for the best Indonesian website. So, what is the problem? You may recall my old entry about being a judge and read / Read more …

Study Abroad Guide

Lots of people asked me about studying abroad. Most of them asked that personally to me because I was an underachiever student when I was taking my bachelor degree, more than 7 years, low GPA and not to mention being labelled “graduated by compassion not by prudence” by one of my teacher (I will remember those words for the rest of my life, Mr. Purwono…). So it was an unbelievable moment when I went abroad to get my Master degree (with partial scholarship) in Germany (right now I am doing my Master thesis research in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada until the / Read more …

Why Movable Type?

Thomas already wrote his reason why he is still using Movable Type. Now I think it is my turn to tell my reason, no? It all started with Priyadi (yes, that Priyadi, the one with Anne Ahira and Roy Suryo fanatics barking ferociously on his back) not-so-scientific survey about the weblogging tools used by most Indonesian weblogger and in that entry the winner is WordPress (WP) with 13 users beating my all time favorites Movable Type (MT) with sadly enough only 4 users. The interesting thing is those 4 users are a long time weblogger (me, since September 2000; Thomas, / Read more …

Doctor's weblog

Just read Cameron Moll weblog entry about medical blogs. I always fascinated with the work of the medical crew, especially the doctor. Some of the doctor have their own weblog now and reading those weblog is really an amusing experience. I can’t say much anymore, just read them yourself. / Read more …

Another Ramadhan abroad

I will still saying the same words like last year: The month of contemplation and self-reflection. The month that slowly lost its true meaning to most of the people. The month of understanding, cleaning the soul and recognize the meaning of being human. It is a great and holy month for people to realize their existence and what is their purpose in life. To all of you that do Ramadhan’s fasting, may Allah bless all of us. / Read more …

Indonesian Spam Defender turn into vandals

As if their spamming action are not bad enough they are now turning themselves into Wikipedia’s vandalizers. As mentioned in Priyadi, Ananda and Jay entries on their weblog those spammer change the lengthy and comprehensive Wikipedia’s article about spamming into one line stupid writing (in Indonesian language too even though the original article is in English and in English Wikipedia, can’t imagine how idiot they could get): wakkk istilah spamming sih sebenarnya masih kacau, blom ada tuh, tapi menurut saya spamming sih ok ok aja demi kemajuan ekonomi ada yang harus dikorbankan, iya kan? free translation: the word spamming is / Read more …

The Motorcycle Diaries

A movie about a motorcycle trip through Latin-America that Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara made in his youth. Although Che Guevara is famously known as a revolutionary and political icon, this movie is not about revolution or political (some political issues are there but they are not the main issue) aspect of his life. Based on a book with the same title, it is a story about two young men (Che and his friend, Alberto Granado having an adventure of a life time cruising through South America using a Norton motorcycle (not until the end of the journey but I don’t / Read more …

Bomb blast hits Indonesian Embassy in Paris

What the?! From Google’s News (Thanks to Priyadi about this sad news). What was the deal with that? What was the motivation? I am not a conspiracy theory buff but it was seems so strange that the bomb blasted in Paris too because what Indonesia and France have in common is that both countries is both are against United Empire of America’s invasion to Iraq. Strange… Anyway, are Indonesian already suffered enough pain lately? This is the major 4th bombing we had (Bali, Marriot, Kuningan and Paris). Stop the violence!. / Read more …

Resident Evil: Apocalypse

Zombies. Lots of them. Dead city (Raccoon city IS Toronto, by the way). Try to get the hell out of there. That’s the basic idea. From a popular video game to movie, Resident Evil: Apocalypse is another interpretation (We already have Tomb Raider, Street Fighter and others) and a good one I must said. After all, the game itself is about ‘shoot the zombies, collect weaponry, try to survive and get the hell out of there’. So in that term, the movie is faithful to its core. Even the portrayal of the character (Jill Valentine is perfect, Carlos Olivera / Read more …

Introducing: Tim Hortons

One thing you can’t miss if you are strolling down in Ottawa is “Tim Hortons” brand. It’s everywhere, from the big red signane in every commercial building (and the campus) to the small and big cup holded by many people as they walking down the sidewalk (even inside the bus). It’s a Canadian thing, I presume. Honestly, I’ve only met Tim now in Canada and it just blew me away the way Tim hanging around on every corner of the street. Of course Starbucks are lurking around but Tim is still unbeatable. There are also a couple coffee place / Read more …

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

Love the movie! So retro (most of you know that I am into retro especially art deco era) and yet so vibrant. Feels like reading a comic book. This movie is so… retro (can’t find better word, sorry), the plane, the robot, the machinery, the costume and everything. The plot has a couple of holes tho but I really don’t mind, it is just a movie and it is entertaining! One thing I found quite annoying is the flow of the story is quite slow, if the movie was really packed in time, I think this is one blast / Read more …

A week...

In Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and I have to admit it, I like being here… My experience with Ottawa is only between my home in the suburb, Carleton and downtown (Parliament Building, Rideau Center and … I think that’s it) but I just feel something in the atmosphere. First of all, most people I’ve met are friendly from a boy in a bus that asked for my suggestion of a birthday present to his mom to the university administrator. Secondly, I don’t feel like a foreigner, an outsider here. I just blend into the society… just like that. Thirdly, most of / Read more …
