Standarized Indonesian Web Developers
Hope you all not too bored with my rants about web standards =). After my last curiosity research, I've been doing more intensive research on a couple of Indonesian Web Developers, especially the big players. And I am not so surprised that NONE of them, including some new so-called web developer, passed the validation test (including my office *sigh* - and it is out of my jurisdiction). In fact some of them have obsolete website... Hmm, I just wondering are they too busy developing other people website so they are forgotten their own? It's ironic indeed... If they don't care / Read more …

About Web Design
If you read my previous entry then you already know my opinion about the separation between graphic design and web design. So it was a pleasant surprise when one of my regularly reading weblog (D. Keith Robinson's weblog) wrote about that particular issue. Keith's article "Learning Web Design" is all I want to say in the previous entry that I already mentioned. Read it... and get the enlightenment. / Read more …

The Question and The Answer
An excerpt from Life, the Universe and Everything: Arthur Dent said: "... but the question I would like to know, is the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything. All we know about it is that the Answer is Forty-Two, which is a little aggravating..." 42? Now the answer to that question is... / Read more …

'Regular Reading' Feature
Notice the Regular Reading box below the Recent Book? It contains some of my regular worth reading websites. Some people asking me what are my regular reading websites, so there they are... Give them a visit (and read them too of course), it will worth your time. Been thinking about adding this feature for awhile. I could make it easier using Blogrolling or blo.gs but they are not exactly what I need and want (Not they are bad but I have greater expectation). After some furious searching and some frustration, finally I found the article: How to make a quick / Read more …

Expanding Movable Type
I love Movable Type, it has so many features and easy to configure. Well, it is kinda big on the size but worth every kilobytes. Been thinking awhile for a donation but *damn* it, I can't use PayPal or Amazon because I live in the country that blacklisted as a 'credit-card-fraud-a-lot country' =(. Well, recently Matthew Haughey wrote about some other ways to use MT not just for blogging. You can read it here. Good articles and really make me thinking about some new ideas. Thanks Matt... =) Updates: Douglas Bowman wrote another article about this topic related to his / Read more …

Annoying E-mail Habit
Here is a dialog: B: I love it, let's go! A: Want to watch it now? B: This review said it was a good movie. A: What do you think about that movie? B: Reading a review about this movie. A: What are you doing? B: Fine, thank you. A: Hello! How are you today? Make sense? No? Well, this is what happened if you write your e-mail reply on top of the quoted e-mail entry. This act is called top posting and considered the most annoying thing in e-mail or usenet communication. Thanks to Priyadi for the 'top posting' / Read more …

Another Beautiful Standarized Design
Another fine creation of Stopdesign (Good work, Doug): Adaptive Path's website. Beautiful design and had valid XHTML 1.0 Strict (wow! Strict!!) and CSS. What more can you ask? Six Feet Under - Second Season
Just watched two episodes of the second season of Six Feet Under. They were great but also getting more depressing... which I found quite good since usually at the end of the season everybody could handle that kind of depression and that will be quite some lessons. I always amazed how the show turn the way we look into the world. I don't know which amaze me more, the fact that the story is about the family of funeral arrangement house or everybody seems quite depressing and had their own disturbing problem or the fact that I feel so close / Read more …

Starting from today, I am now one of the contributors of Ensiklonesia. Thank you very much to the current contributors; Thomas, William and Dadang. Now I can tell the world that Indonesia is not just Bali, Borobudur or Cendrawasih... or Indonesia is not all about riots, distress and corruption (which sadly some of the time is...). Well, now if only I can find something interesting to write about Indonesia. Hmm, maybe I start writing about Jakarta... afterall, this is the city I am currently living. / Read more …

CSS Zen Garden
Some people think standarized web design (using XHTML for content and CSS for layout) is very restricting. Some said that sometimes the standard create obstacle to the design itself. Some even said that the standard limiting their creativity... Well, since when the creativity or the design has limit? The standard is not limiting them, they in fact enhance them. Don't believe me? Adikarya Desain Indonesia 2003
Are you an Indonesian graphic or web designer? Then participate in Adikarya Desain Indonesia 2003 (Indonesia Design Masterpiece 2003)! Details on the website. One thing that make me quite happy is the separation between graphic design and web designer. I always said that web design is not just 'graphic design on the web'. Web design deserve more that that! Maybe both can be categorized under visual communication design field. I strongly agree that without a good graphic design then a website will be a sore to the eyes but there are more than just 'good looks' to make a good / Read more …

Harry Potter (again)...
Actually this is kinda funny. After I finished reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and announced it on Harry Potter Indonesia mailing list, a reporter from Koran Tempo called me and said that he want to interview me about my 'Harry Potter Book Hunt". So I did and the interview was printed on the first page just below the main news on the next day... =) After that another interview with the same newspaper and suddenly some people recommended me to become a speaker on this event. T68i
It's about time I have a new cell phone. After doing some thinking and reading for almost 3 months I've decided to buy Sony Ericsson T68i. This is my second 'state of the art' cell phone since my Siemens S25. This phone, IMHO, is worth every dime. Not too pricey for its great feature, it had Bluetooth™, infra red, GPRS, POP3 mail and extented posibility with digital camera. And mine had 'special edition' grey color. Kewl... / Read more …
